Xquartz for mac 10.142/20/2023 You are receiving this because you commented. Has anyone made any progress on fixing this? I'm having the same issue trying to open mgltools You don't often get email from Learn why this is important I do not know if my scenario is unique of not. The software folks that required my running X11 processes knew of no issue with ACC. Seems to be stable now (but I am probably still paying for the service.). I eventually did a "find" for anything with the Adobe name, trashed the folders, emptied the trash, and re-booted. Creative Cloud Uninstaller provided only temporary relief. Dragging the main calling program to Trash may have made the issue worse, as ACC spawns a bunch of added folders with processes. With precision timing, I could delete using the Force Quit Applications, but doing it in the Activity Monitor was better (it starts at the top of the CPU usage queue, but is still locatable after that). I kept getting errors for an ACC process and at the same rough time frame having XQuartz start up, shut down, repeating forever. MacPorts xorg-server and XQuartz are pretty much the same thing - the XQuartz developer uses MacPorts to build it. I am suspicious about a misbehaving Adobe Creative Cloud. It would start up, shut down, and do this over and over. You are receiving this because you commented.Message ID: …Ī slightly different issue came with XQuartz 2.8.1. You don't often get email from Learn why this is yes I did it I am guessing that the first page has the needed info for figuring out what the issue is, or at least pointing in the right direction. The last time I did any Unix was over 20 years ago, so troubleshooting is out for me. It almost worked the first time.Įach time it stops it spits out an error report - attached. I'm not sure if openmotif will include xquartz or if you will have to do both. I deleted both X and the calling software, re-booted, re-installed, rebooted. I am running Mac OS 10.15.7, and I wound up getting elegant and SDDS to install by using homebrew to install motif: brew install openmotif Before I tried that, I did brew install -cask xquartz which helped with some errors but wasn't enough. After that, starting up X just sends it on an endless loop of starting and stopping. It brought X up, but the licensing failed (I typed the code in wrong, perhaps, 3 times). The only way to bring it forth is to kill it and launch it by hand.In my case, I was calling X from another process, trying to fill out the licensing info. My xfce4 session comprises xfce4-panel but each time that I start X11 (or XQuartz), while everything is loaded normally under my eyes, in the end the panel disappears. I only hope that the next system reboot does not bring back the awful window management.Īnd one last minor problem, if anyone has any idea how to solve it. Perhaps the x-server that comes with XQuartz somehow took control? I don't know. So it is still no clear to me what exactly happened. ![]() Of course, before trying XQuartz and when only MacPorts' X11 was present, I logged out and in again many times and I rebooted the iMac, but to no avail. ![]() Now MacPorts' X11 and XQuartz are both installed in my system and whichever I run the GUI performs much better despite the 2.0 GHz refresh rate in the Display settings that I cannot change. And then it happened: my problem went away! I hope it stays like that because I don't know why this solves my problem. However, before applying such a drastic measure, I just tried to logout and login again after installing XQuartz. Try uninstalling the 'xorg-server' as XQuartz installs it's own x-server.
